Independent energy engineering

Energy systems shaped by insight, designed for resilience.

JLJ helps stakeholders, builders, and architects plan resilient energy systems—from battery backup and solar contribution through electrical scope, permitting, and project delivery.

A multidisciplinary energy project team reviews site plans beside solar and electrical infrastructure at a data center.

How JLJ works

Independent Engineering

Advice is shaped around project requirements, not equipment sales.

Integrated Solutions

Electrical, storage, controls, and delivery constraints are considered together.

Safety & Compliance

Code and permitting implications remain visible throughout scoping.

Measurable Impact

Design decisions connect to runtime, resilience, and practical project outcomes.

Consulting scope

Start with the work your project needs.

Core consulting

Consulting

General advisory support by phone, video, or on-site.

Deliverable

Design Package

A technical design package for the proposed system.

Compliance

Fire permitting

Additional professional permitting scope when fire-code review is required.

Philosophy

Resolve the system before selecting the parts.

JLJ keeps requirements, operating conditions, technical scope, compliance, and delivery responsibility connected before equipment decisions become commitments.

Anonymized visualization of the Black Mesa grid-scale battery energy storage plant.

Grid-scale energy storage · Western United States

Design + permit

Black Mesa

"Black Mesa" is a grid-scale battery energy storage plant organized around modular, independently controllable storage groups. The reference design ranges from 228 to 640 MWh and can operate either as one aggregated grid resource or as separate battery banks when system conditions require isolation.

Anonymized visualization of the Meadowline community solar garden.

Community solar garden · Regional U.S. utility service territory

Installed project

Meadowline

"Meadowline" is a 2.18 MW DC community solar project interconnected with a regional investor-owned utility and serving residential subscribers across the surrounding service territory.

Anonymized visualization of the Ridgeline off-grid mountain resort microgrid.

Off-grid resort microgrid · Remote mountain resort community

Design + permit

Ridgeline

"Ridgeline" is a fully off-grid resort development planned to grow from an initial cluster of cabins to several hundred over a multi-decade build-out, with no utility connection at any phase. The project required an electrical architecture that could expand incrementally without reworking the underlying system at each stage.

About JLJ
